Robin Lumley, co-founder of the Brand X, has just recovered a small treasure of well-preserved reel tapes. Here's a teaser with a taste of the material.
Among these, the studio sessions of the band's first recordings in the pre-Charisma period, when Phil Collins joined jam sessions at Island Records in 1974/75.
Watch the teaser:
The musicians involved are Phil Spinelli, Pete Bonas, John Goodsall, Percy Jones, Phil Collins and Robin Lumley.
The recording still remains untitled. These sessions have been considered lost to time, as Brand X hastily left the Island in 1975, to record what was thought to be their first album"Unorthodox Behavior".
Among other tapes unearthed by Robin are sessions by Jack Lancaster and Robin Lumley and early session demos by Unorthodox Behaviour, with notes by producer Dennis MacKay.
The question everyone is asking is, "Could all of this justify a new Brand X release or box set in the near future?"
